Règlement

Any enrolment for the EcoTrail de Paris® 2017 implies the tacit acceptance of the following regulations:

 1. EVENT

A timed running race through the heart of the countryside, following for the most part off-road paths. The distances of the 4 races of the Trail de Paris Ile de France go from 18km to 80km. The Trails will take place in one single leg, at a free pace, in a limited time, coupled with strict time gates.

2 PARTICIPATION

Le Trail is open anyone with the minimum age depending of the race chosen.

3 TRAIL IN SEMI SELF-SUFFICIENCY

The principle of individual racing in semi self-sufficiency is the rule for all races. On the course, there are areas of refreshment provisioned with drinks and food to be consumed on the spot. Only water (excluding other drinks) is there to fill up flasks and containers.

Each runner must make sure to have, at the start of each refreshment area, the quantity of water and food which are necessary to them to get to the next refreshment point. No personal assistance is authorized on the course outside the refreshment areas set out for this purpose.

Any personal medical or paramedical care is strictly forbidden. It is officially forbidden to be supported along the course by any person other than a regularly enrolled competitor.

4 ENROLMENT CONDITIONS

Conditions can be very tough in March (night, wind, cold, rain or snow). A very good training and a real capacity for personal autonomy are indispensable for the success of such an individual adventure.

To enrol for the trails of the EcoTrail de Paris Ile de France®, you are strongly advised to have already completed a minimum :

-          For the Trail 80km : a 50km trail

-          For the Trail 45km : a 30km trail

-          For the Trail 30km : a 15km running race

5 ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS AND OF THE ETHICS

Taking part in the Trails of the Eco-Trail de Paris Ile de France® implies a “de facto” acceptance without reserve of the current regulations and of the ethics of the race published by the organization, as can be consulted in the section « ethical charter » on the website.

A little bag specifically for collection the participants' rubbish is handed out to each runner with their race number. The use of this bag is obligatory, and carrying it will be checked out at the control points. Any runner caught throwing down rubbish on the course will be disqualified.

Everyone enrolled undertakes to follow the paths signposted by the organisation, without taking short-cuts. In fact, short-cutting a path causes an irreversible erosion of the site and thus permanent damage. Non-respect for this direction will lead to disqualification.

A large number of dustbins have been placed in each refreshment area and must definitely be used with an approach to a selective sorting of rubbish.

Participants must strictly respect the regulationsof the following sites : Meudon Observatory, Domaine National de Saint-Cloud and du Parc de l’Ile Saint-Germain.

 8 TRAIL CANCELLATION GUARANTEE

Each entry is considered as final. No refunds will be made for any reasons. No registration transfer will be allowed, for any reasons. Any participant giving his bib to another one will be recognized as responsible in case of an accident caused by this latter during the event. The organisation denies all responsibility regarding this scenario.

Any person can at any moment of their enrolment subscribe to a cancellation guarantee (10 euros). The object of the guarantee is to enable the reimbursement of the race fee (not including the cancellation guarantee fee) in the case where a runner requests the cancellation of his enrolment because of one of the following events:

  • an accident or a serious illness leading to going off work for over 3 days,
  • a serious illness necessitating hospitalisation,
  • the death of his wife or common law partner, their parents or their first generation descendants, this in the thirty days preceding the event.

Any enrolment cancellation will be formulated by email or registered letter. It will be accompanied by proof supplied by the competent authority, attesting the realisation of one of the events mentioned in article 8.

The demand for reimbursement must be done at the latest in the 10 days which follow the EcoTrail de Paris. Demands are considered in the two months following the event.

No reimbursement will be made without this cancellation guarantee option..

9 EQUIPMENT FOR THE TRAIL

Using a MP3 player or any device which let you listen music is tolerated by the organization. However, for obvious security reasons, the organization strongly dissuades to use headsets which can affect the listening of your own environment during the race. The use of their devices is under the unique responsibility of the participant.

10 RACE NUMBERS AND BRACELETS

Each runner will present proof of identity with photo at the race bib’s withdrawal. He will then be handed his race number, accompanied by a bracelet.

The race number must be worn on the chest or the stomach and must be permanently visible throughout the entire race. It must therefore be positioned above any clothing and can in no case be fixed to the rucksack or a leg. The name and logo of the sponsors must neither be modified, nor hidden.

The bracelet must be permanently worn around the wrist for the entire duration of the event. The bracelet is the pass necessary to get to the shuttles, buses, refreshment zones, showers, toilets and zones of deposit and picking-up of bags.

11 ELECTRONIC CHIPS FOR TIMEKEEPING PURPOSES

During the issuing of race bibs, an electronic chip is individually handed over to each runner for timekeeping purposes. This must be placed as stipulated in the technical description. Each runner is responsible for the good care of the chip. The runner cannot be timed in the following cases:

  • not carrying the chip,
  • losing the chip,
  • damaging the chip,
  • uncorrect carrying of the chip.

12 RUNNERS BAGS FOR THE FINISH

Each competitor brings their own personal effects bag of 20 liters capacity (change of clothing, toiletries,...). A sticky label supplied with the race bib must be stuck onto this bag.

The personal bags should be dropped on starting zones at the following time schedule :

-          Trail 80km : between 09h00 and 12h15

-          Trail 45km : between 09h00 and 10h30

-          Trail 30km : e between 08h30 and 09h45

-          Trail 18km : between 07h30 and08h45

No runner's bag will be accepted by the organization on Thursday and Friday.

The organisation then takes the bag to the corresponding finish areas.

The bags are handed back either to the competitor or to those close to him, uniquely on presentation of the bracelet :

-          Trail 80km : until 02h00 Sunday morning

-          Trail 45km :  until 20h30 on saturday

-          Trail 30km : until 16h30 on saturday

-          Trail 18km : until 14h00 on saturday

Beyond this time limit, the runner will have to come and take back his bag, at his own cost, from the organisation at Issy-les-Moulineaux.

Only the bags handed out by the organisation will be taken. As the contents of the bags were not checked, there can be no protest about the contents at the Finish. It is recommended not to put valuable objects in them.

All the bags must be taken back from the association within 30 days after the event, beyond which date they given to charitable organisations.

13 SAFETY AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

On the parts of the course following the public roads, each participant will have to conform with State laws and will alone be responsible for a possible breach of these rules.

A First Aid station has been set up at each refreshment post. These stations are in telephonic liaison with Race Control. A medical control team is present throughout the entire duration of the event at Race Control.

The First Aid stations are there to bring aid to any person in danger using the organisation's own or approved means. The official doctors are authorised to take any competitor unsuited to continue the event out of the race (by invalidating his race number). The first-aid workers are authorised to transport those runners whom they consider in danger by any means at their disposal.

In case of need, for reasons always going in the interest of the person being rescued, they can call on the fire brigade, and at that moment, the operations direction will organise all the appropriate means. The costs resulting from the use of these exceptional means will be paid by the person rescued who will also have to ensure his return from the point from which he will have been evacuated. He also can also present a file to his individual personal accident insurance.

Any runner calling for a doctor or a first-aid worker submits themselves to their authority and undertakes to accept their decisions.

14 PHYSIOTHERAPISTS, OSTEOPATHS AND CHIROPODISTS

Physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropodists will be present on the arrival zone to bring aid to runners after their arrival. Access to the care area is only possible for those runners wearing their bracelet. Access to first aid and the nature of the care required are left to the assessment of the first-aid personnel, notably based how busy they are.

15 CONTROL POSTS AND REFRESHMENT AREAS

"Mobile" control zones of have been set up at several points along the course. Their position is not communicated by the organisation and the means of control will be specified to the participants during the pre-race briefing on Saturday 18th March 2016 15 min before the start.

Only runners carrying a visible race number have access to the refreshment areas. The road map will identify a precise list of refreshment points. The refreshment points are supplied with drinks and food to eat on the spot and with still water for refilling your bottle or flask

IMPORTANT : no glass will be handed out on refreshment points

16  MAXIMUM TIME AUTHORISED AND TIME GATES

The maximum duration for each races is fixed as follow : :

-          Trail 80km : 12h45

-          Trail 45km : 08h15

-          Trail 30km : 05h00

-          Trail 18km : 04h00

The hour limits from the Start (time gates) of the refreshment zones will be defined and communicated in the road map.

These time gates have been calculated to enable the participants to get to the Finish in the maximum time laid down, while still making possible stops (rest, care...) To be authorised to continue the event, competitors must set off again from the refreshment zone before the fixed time limit (whatever their arrival time in the refreshment area).

Any competitor put out of the race and wishing to continue his course can only do so having returned his race number, and must then continue at his own responsibility and in complete autonomy. From then on he can no longer be considered as a Finisher.

In the case of poor weather conditions and/or for safety reasons, the organisation reserves the right to cancel and/or to stop the race underway, even to modify the time gates in liaison with the prefectures concerned.

17 SHOWERS

It is possible for the participants if the 80km, 50km and 30km Trails (Finishers or not) to take a shower in Paris at the Emile Anthoine Sports Centre (Paris VII).

18 RETIREMENT AND REPATRIATION

Except for injury, a runner must not retire anywhere else but in a refreshment area. He must then tell the area director, who recovers the race number and the chip. The runner keeps their bracelet because this is their pass for getting to the shuttles, buses, meals, and first-aid rooms...

Systematically and obligatorily a runner, having retired, must himself tell Race Control (by phone or by SMS at the special number indicated on the road map). How to get him back will be decided by the post director, based on the following general rules:

  • Buses are available from the Start of the communes indicated on the road map to get those runners having retired back to Paris.
  • Runners who retire at another first-aid post but whose state of health does not necessitate being evacuated, must get back as quickly as possible, and by their own means, to the closest point of repatriation. In case of poor weather conditions justifying the partial or total stopping of the race, the organisation ensures repatriation of the runners stopped as soon as possible.
  • Retiring before a refreshment area and going back, during the meeting with race officials, these will recover the race number and the chip. The runner will then no longer be under the control of the organisation. Using any means, he will then have to tell Race Control of his safe return (by phone or by SMS to the special n° indicated on the road map).

19 PENALISATION - DISQUALIFICATION

Controllers on the course are authorised to check the obligatory material and, more generally, the respect for all the regulations (runners identity, respect for the site and the ethic, illicit help and accompanying, race number not permanently visible to the front... ).

Pénalités

Any runner not in possession, during a control along the course, of the totality of his obligatory material will be immediately disqualified, without any possibility of making an appeal against this sanction.

The displaying or exhibition of brands, sponsors, or partners being strictly forbidden in the area of the Eiffel Tower, the organiser is in charge of respecting this regulation. Because of this, non-respect will lead to an immediate and irrevocable disqualification. In addition, the competitor concerned will no longer be able to enrol in future runnings of the EcoTrail de Paris Ile de France®.

A minimum penalisation of half an hour is applied for any other breach in regulations. The controller tells his post director and/or Race Control and can ask, depending on the seriousness of the act and the behaviour of the runner, for the disqualification of the competitor. The race jury can declare the disqualification of a competitor for any serious breach in the regulations, in particular in the case of:

  • not wearing the race number correctly,
  • not presenting identity papers or the presentation of identity papers not corresponding to those on the race number being worn,
  • not wearing the bracelet,
  • not respecting the State Law on those parts of the course using public roads,
  • not respecting the instructions given by the control post
  • using a means of transport,
  • starting off from a refreshment area after the time limit,
  • not helping another competitor in difficulty,
  • accepting personal assistance outside the official refreshment areas,
  • not respecting the rule not to be accompanied along the course,
  • display or exhibition, in no matter what form, of brands, sponsors, or partners in the Eiffel Tower enclosure,
  • pollution or damage to the sites by the competitor or by a member of his team,
  • insults, rudeness or threats made during a meeting with any member of the organisation or any volunteer,
  • refusal to be examined by an organisation doctor at any moment in the event,
  • drug-taking or refusal to allow a drugs test,
  • not carrying the rubbish bag.

20 PROTESTS

They can be made by letter in the 72 hours after the posting of the provisional results.

21  ANTI-DOPING CONTROL

The decisions are without appeal.

23 MODIFICATIONS TO THE COURSE OR TIME GATES; CANCELLATION OF THE RACE

The organisation reserves the right to modify the course and the locations of the First Aid and refreshment posts, at any moment and without warning. In the case of really bad weather (strong depression with serious amounts of rain and snow, strong risk of a storm...) the Start can be delayed by maximum of two hours, beyond which, the race is cancelled.

In the case of bad weather conditions, and for reasons of safety, the organisation reserves the right to cancel and/or to stop the event underway, even to modify the time gates.

Cancellation, postponement or modification to the race opens no right to enrolment reimbursement.

Any decision will be taken by a jury bringing together at least the race director, the organiser and the coordinator responsible for safety as well as any person competent in the eye of the President of the Organisation Committee.

24 INSURANCE

Personal liability: The organiser has taken out a personal liability for the duration of the event. This personal liability insurance guarantees the financial consequences of its responsibility, of that of its officials and its participants.
